Tollermania 2022 Poem

Written by Sandra Higdon; October 28, 2022

And so it began…

Our weekend with Melissa, Oakley,Diesel and Dan

“Come for a barbecue”…I’ll clear a bit of land

He built a Pavillion, and the people they came

Tollers came too, begged for biscuits without shame

They decended on New Germany from near and from far

They came from all over,by boat plane and car

They came with their tollers, tollers in tow

A sea of red tollers, some through Facebook we know

Some flew in from thousands of miles

And brought their flat tollers parading their smiles

Downtown with the media, they caused quite a stir

Made local news,TV and print with their red fur

It was foggy at first, then it started to pour

It didn’t dampen our spirits, next day came back for more

We donned rain gear, rubber boots and smiles all around

Though rain in the sky and mud on the ground

They had dog trials and bag pipers and drones in the sky

And a wall of fallen tollers that brought tears to our eyes

The experts brought tollers, showed how to retrieve ducks

The rest of us looked on…and thought…GOOD LUCK!!

With tails in the air and noses on the ground

The furry ones revelled in the new friends they had found

New friends made and private stories shared

Some told with a heavy heart, to people they knew who cared

And so dear friends,we bid you adieu

With fond memories and thanks for tollermania ’22
